Nearly 30 years after studying Music Technology at Preston College, electronic musician Printy is returning to the city for his first headline show, scheduled for Thursday 12 November 2026 at Artch Studios.
Printy completed his studies around 1998 and continued creating electronic music for several years before pausing his career around 2003 due to work commitments, mortgage responsibilities, and starting a family. For almost two decades, his music equipment was packed away or sold, and music-making largely disappeared from his life.
In 2022, he resumed making music, and since then, his tracks have received airplay through BBC Introducing. Now preparing to release a new album, Printy has chosen Preston to host his first headline performance, marking a full circle in his musical journey.
The Album Launch Party at Artch Studios will be an intimate and laid-back event, combining atmospheric electronic music with specially created projections, lighting, and original visuals to create an immersive audiovisual experience.
Printy said,
It's quite strange to think that nearly 30 years after studying music technology in Preston, I'm coming back to the city to play my first headline show. I carried on making music for a few years after college, but then the usual things happened - work, mortgage, kids - and eventually I sold most of my equipment and stopped altogether.
I didn't start again until 2022, almost 20 years later. Coming back to it after such a long time has been brilliant, and having some of the music picked up and played by BBC Introducing gave me a bit of confidence that perhaps I wasn't completely mad for starting again!
I didn't want the album launch to just be a normal gig either. I'm putting as much work into the visual side as the audio, creating projections, lighting and staging specifically for the show. It's a small venue and it's deliberately going to be quite intimate and laid-back. I'm hoping people can come along, switch off for a couple of hours and experience it rather than simply watch someone perform.
The venue, Artch Studios, holds around 60 people, making the show a personal first live outing for the new album. Every ticket includes a free Bandcamp download of the album, allowing attendees to take the record home after the event.
The Printy Album Launch Party will take place at Artch Studios, Preston, PR1 8SD, on Thursday 12 November 2026. Doors open at 7.30pm, and tickets are priced at Β£6, including the album download.
